My Hiking Journey
Ever since I was young, I have wanted to travel and visit the world. What better way to do this by finding ways to explore kid-friendly destinations. Exploring the outdoors makes me happy and even better, aligns itself with my journey to financial freedom.
The Hiking Mama started, because this is all new to me and I want to document my journey of exploring the outdoors without breaking the bank. I also struggled to find other blogs that could help me with tips and tricks on how to hike with kids. I have the most active toddler who is ready to take this journey with me, she is my why.
Hey there, I'm Brittany
I am a South Texas blogger who works as a full-time Data Analyst and part-time Web Developer when not exploring the outdoors.
For a while now, I’ve been feeling lost and had some major FOMO when it came to why I wasn’t where others were. I had major surgery about five years ago and racked up some big debt. Now, that I have a family to take care of, I decided to make big changes in my life. This meant that I was going to use The Budget Mom’s Budget by Paycheck Method and tackle my debt.
In my journey of becoming debt-free and finding financial freedom, I also realized that I was surrounded by things that did not bring me happiness. I started donating clothes that I didn’t wear, toys that my daughter doesn’t play with, and everything to live only with the things I really need and focus on things that mattered the most.
No, I’m not a full-blown minimalist, but I found joy in finding other means to live life to my fullest.
